September 29 - Brierwood Ensemble + Daniel McCloud | 7:30 pm
The Brierwood Ensemble (Christina Brier, harp; Linda Estep, violin; Clark Spencer, viola; Helena Kopchick Spencer, bassoon) joins with composer-percussionist Daniel McCloud to perform music that evokes light, color, and the natural world. This recital features the world premiere of Dr. McCloud’s Moonbow, a four-part suite inspired by the hues of the gray spectrum – Gainsboro, rhythm, alabaster, and eigengrau – and intended to capture the warmth and comfort of an intimate gathering of friends on a clear summer night. Other works on the program include selections from UNCW alumnus Ryan Mulder’s North Carolina Lighthouse Suite and French Romantic composer Henriette Renié’s Trio in B-flat Major.
